A back boiler is different to all other boilers because it is small and is fitted usually at the rear of the hearth of an open fireplace, or in a room heater to offer hot water and even sometimes to heat radiators in the property.
Solid fuel back boilers can only supply hot water when the fire that heats the house is lit. Gas and oil back boilers however can work independently of the fire front so are able to provide hot water all year round.
